The I Am Project

#Happy Monday! 🙂

I want to share with you all today the amazing work by the ‘The I Am Project’ I first came across their designs via the wonderful world of Pintrest. It was the quirky, illustrative & stunning typography that caught my eye initially. I happily pinned away to find that there was a fantastic project & theme running behind the beautiful designs too. I then contacted the lovely Tobe from the group to find out more information.

I also found a shiny new blog to look at too called (BIA) http://becauseitsawesome.blogspot.com/ ran by Tobe.

The I Am Project background information:

“Basically, a couple of my dear design friends and I found ourselves repeating the same conversations about the challenges of growing up as girls, and what we wish someone had been able to get through our thick skulls. In our experiences, girls feel so much pressure to fit in, to be liked by other girls and boys alike, and sometimes neglect being true to themselves in the process. There are plenty of organizations and adults kids trust that will give great advice about not giving in to social pressures and being yourself, but most do it in a “you’ll learn someday” kind of tone. If there were just a voice that really resonated with young women, we think the world would see a lot more stronger-willed young ladies! And so The I Am Project was born.

BIA wasn’t initially the prime audience, but it was an easy and authentic place to start. And we do feel like a lot of the lessons we need to learn when we’re young continue to come up as adults, so these messages serve as great ongoing reminders. So we’re beginning our journey on the blog, and seeing where it takes us.

Our wish is to affirm and inspire the beauty in every woman, to celebrate the uniqueness in each of us, as well as the commonalities that unite us as women. We want to create a space to confront the dark places that come with growth; to witness women being valued for more than their bodies, clothes, or societal projections; to feel inspired by stories and images; and to become more deeply rooted in who we are as women. We want to become a net of resources that will nurture and fortify each other’s confidence, and fill women with awareness of the extraordinary beauty that each of us uniquely brings to the world”.
