Colour Inspiration – Jelly Bean Houses! Hello lovely readers! We hope everybody has had a great weekend & a very happy Monday. After a bit of travel over the past week, we have found some amazing colour inspiration that we are excited to share. The photos we’ve taken hail from one of the most colourful cities in all of Canada – St. John’s! St. John’s is famous for lots of things, from its friendly people, its great sights (like icebergs & whale watching!), its music & its unique history. But one thing that tourists always come far & wide to see are the vividly colourful Jelly Bean Rows. These rows of attached houses are one of the most distinct features of the city & people are encouraged to paint their houses as brightly as they can! When all the houses down a street are fully painted, they resemble a bunch of jelly beans, hence the name Jelly Bean Row! People often like to get creative & paint their doors or trim a contrasting colour. Even local businesses are on board with this tradition – it’s not unusual to see a bakery, candy store, or even a law firm painted a bright, distinctive colour. Since St. John’s is the oldest city in North America, some of these bright beauties are hundreds of years old & carry tons of colourful history. Here are some of our favourite snaps from a recent visit. The jelly bean houses have also inspired tons of local artists to create amazing work around the tradition. We hope they also provide you with a little colour inspiration & bring a little bit of joy to your day. Posted by: Holly Next Article Previous Article
