Blogs We Love – Flowers & Gardens!

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to another post in the Blogs We Love series! With all this lovely summer weather, we thought it would be a great time to share our favourite blogs for floral inspiration. While there are tons of amazing floral-themed blogs out there, we wanted to provide you with more than just photos of flowers. These blogs are full of wonderful tips, tutorials, workshops, galleries, buying & using guides & more!

If you’re looking to take up floristry as a hobby or even pursue it as a creative business idea, be sure to give each of these wonderful blogs a browse – each story is truly inspiring & we really admire the passion & creativity of these wonderfully talented artists!imageblock2

Flower Wild, ran by floral designer Kate Holt, is a fabulous resource for those seeking designer wedding arrangements, for creatives wanting to pursue their passion for floristry & for lovers of floral inspiration in general. Kate’s website functions as a beautifully documented portfolio filled with her styling, event & editorial work & links to her popular floristry workshops.

We are big lovers of Kate’s journal / blog – not only does she share some breathtaking wedding photography (featuring her gorgeous arrangements), she also provides some experienced & valueable insights into the floristry & wedding industries. Kate’s passion for growing & arranging flowers is an inspiration in itself & we love what she has to say about her biggest passion:

Would I say that flowers run thru my veins? Perhaps, poetically speaking. My philosophy is simple…never force a flower, let it breathe and sway. Let it show itself off in a flourish of petals. It is safe to say these blooms know what they are doing by now, evolving from miniscule little specks to their present day glory. All of my work here at Flowerwild is an exercise in “following my bliss.”

We encourage any aspiring florists to bookmark Kate’s blog, to have a thorough look through Kate’s galleries & work examples & to read up on her floral workshops. We feel so fresh & full of life after every read & we’re positive you will too!

Floret Flowers is a family-oriented flower company based on a beautiful farm in Skagit Valley, Washington. Ran by Erin Benzakein & her family, Floret Flowers is an excellent resource for those wanting to learn more about organic & DIY floristry; Erin’s blog posts & resource links often feature gardening-tool tips, how-to-grow guides, where-to-buy info & more. Erin & her family also run tutorials & workshops for those wanting to dive into floristry themselves!

Here’s a summarised blurb from Erin around how she found her true calling. It just goes to show how worthwhile it is to pursue your creative dream:

“Years ago we left the hustle and bustle of city life…to pursue a slower, simpler and more intentional lifestyle for our little family. shared much of [our] gardens bounty with friends, family and anyone who crossed my path. During [an] abundant season, word got out and someone ordered a jar of flowers…right then and there I knew I had found my calling.”

We love the Floret Flowers blog for so many reasons –  it’s got gorgeous floral photography, its a practical resource for creatives & it’s jam-packed with colourful floral inspiration. But one of the best things about the Bensakein family & their flowers is their story:  for those wanting to leave the city, get out into the open & follow your dreams, we think you should read (& get inspired) by the story behind the Floret Flowers Farm. image

Commenting on her own career & success, Rona says,
