Find It Fix It Flog It, September – Channel 4

Rachael was asked by the people at Channel 4’s award winning daytime TV show Find It Fix It Flog It to design a bespoke retro fabric so that Gemma Longworth could kit out a classic campervan with it. We spotted Gemma on the telly box working her magic with Rachael’s fabric to create some funky curtains for the van. Rachael really enjoyed the challenge of designing for TV production & loved this fun & unique brief. You can find her fabric design featured on episode 11 of series 3 around 28:00 | 37.10 | 41.49.

Rachael was asked to create a 70’s campervan fabric that looked as authentic as possible. Rachael drew all of the motifs by hand from scratch then worked them up digitally. The flowers are all her own unique motifs & the design is a bespoke original. Whilst drawing & selecting the colour palette she carried out extensive research & looked at popular floral shapes, retro trends, listened to 1970s music & kept showing the artwork to people who lived the 70s experience so she could get some honest feedback.

Rachael was asked to work & get it printed very fast… she worked until the early hours to get it out in time. Rachael completed a 24hr design turnaround for this completely bespoke design in a repeat tile & it took around 48hrs for the finished fabric itself. The world of TV works quick!
