Rachael Taylor Studio in 2014! Wow! 2014 was a jam-packed, fun filled year that went by so fast! So lets take a moment to be thankful for an amazing 12 months at RT HQ! Thank you to all of our supporters & followers for all that they have done for us – we wouldn’t be here without you! The year started with us exhibiting at Printsource, New York for a second time through the Lilla Rogers Studio. Rachael’s work really does get to travel the world! After exhibiting at the show Rachael got to work with some amazing clients including Avery, Topflight, Safeway USA & Summer Infant. In March & July Rachael collaborated with the brilliant Collage Greetings on two brand new ranges – one ‘seasonal’ & one ‘everyday’! Keep a look out for some sneak peeks very soon! In April one of Rachael’s floral designs was picked by German company Ritzenhoff to be licensed on their ‘Pearl’ champagne glasses! 2014 saw the launch of Rachael’s first ever book ’20 Ways to Draw a Doodle’ published by the fabulous Quarry Books! The book was an instant best seller in our shop & we had so much fun seeing customers & giveaway winners doodling away with the book in hand. You can grab a copy from our shop where it will be signed by Rachael with the option to have a special, hand-written, personalised message! Also in May we had another brilliant opportunity to exhibit through the Lilla Rogers Studio at Surtex, New York! Rachael introduced a whole new portfolio of work which is available to clients to look through in our brand new private archive. We also created another look book which you can see a sneak peek of below or you can take a look at our ‘Pattern & Illustration Look Book’ & our ‘Urban Look Book’ on Blurb. Issue 6 of MOYO Magazine was published in May & was packed with advice & inspiration on manufacturing. During the summer the Make it in Design team finally all got to have one big meet up, getting to know new members and planning exciting new things for the MIID website, MOYO Magazine & The Art & Business of Surface Pattern Design (the e-course)! In July we launched the ‘Make it in Design Summer School’ which lead to thousands of amazing designs & helped build on our already amazing community & network! Look out for our publication of a selection of the some of the wonderful designs that were submitted, which will be coming out soon! In August leading greetings company Mpix licensed a selection of Rachael’s seasonal designs for a brand new, personalised card range! Rachael also worked with Lora Jones on a special bespoke storage box project, using cuts of her bright & colourful fabrics to create some stunning pieces. Out of all of the projects Rachael has worked on her little boy Blayke is her most favourite creation to date! In November we released a special typography edition of MOYO Magazine, our 7th issue being the biggest ever with the wonderful Kelly Rae Roberts gracing the cover! In 2014 we expanded our licensed collection with DENY Designs who have also added more amazing products available in 44 of our colourful prints! In collaboration with The Design Trust, Rachael participated in an expert seminar – giving advice on collections & running successful creative businesses. Rachael also had several awesome press mentions over the year including being featured in ‘The 50 Markets E-book’ by John Roman, ‘Designer Insights’ interview by Terry’s Blinds, Yorkshire Post, Mollie Makes & the Gorgeous Yorkshire blog. We also received a huge nine page feature in Wedding Ideas magazine featuring our popular wedding & party decorations from our shop. The fab licensing opportunities continued to the end of the year with Papermagic! Recently Rachael has also signed to create a licensed collection of patterned umbrella’s in the UK. Stay tuned for more! There has been so much that happened in 2014 & just as much going on behind the scenes that we can’t wait to share!
