Home Style Magazine Cover Feature! I arrived back from Switzerland during the holidays to spot this feature in Home Style on the shelf at the train station. I did this photoshoot a good while back & had no idea of what would be selected or even published, the article spans over 8 pages & I have a couple of extra snippets here & there in the magazine too. I had no idea that I had been picked as the cover girl! Seeing it on the shelf was a total surprise & I went bright red! I’ve been featured on two magazine covers across the past 9 months, this one & Where Women Create over in the USA & it’s such a bizarre feeling & a bit of an outer-body experience. I’m used to seeing my designs heavily feature in things but it’s so weird to see my actual cheesy face too! Super grateful though. With special thanks to Colin Poole for the photography, Richard Webber for the editorial, Home Style for the generous feature & my RT studio squad of Kelly & Janine for helping to make this happen & the extra creativity. I just wanted to give an extra special shout out to Colin who is such an amazing photographer to work with, he really is a lovely guy & talented gem with over 20+ years experience. His work is featured in many of the leading publications & he has also photographed many famous faces & homes. His company is Photoword Ltd & I can’t sing his praises enough. He just made the house look more magical through his beautiful photography. Also not forgetting Kate Smith Make-up for making me look human after the manic tidyathon & the prepping until the early hours beforehand. I love interiors & styling & I genuinely just do my own thing along with naturally applying my surface pattern design work to create truly bespoke pieces so it’s nice to see others enjoy it too. This room (my family room featured on the cover) also reminds of Havana now. It was designed way before my trip but I think I must have definitely visited in a previous life as the colours, pattern & textures echo the Cuban vibe in places along with a random mix of retro, my own prints & mid century styles thrown in for good measure! It was all created quite slowly too, I like to spontaneously add pieces to avoid a room looking contrived & just see where it takes me. It was nice to see my footstool created in collaboration with Reloved Upholstery on the cover too! Below is an image of the magazine captured in a WHSmith’s in London… like I said it feels so surreal! Below is a fun little behind the scenes shot where I was guided to pose in front of my designs & if I’m being honest I felt like Derek Zoolander (from the film Zoolander) but Colin made it so fun & I laughed all day long (I recently shared a exclusive behind the scenes ‘photoshoot diary’ with the Make it in Design members’ club The Colour Gang & we also interviewed Colin too, so if you are interested you can hop on the waiting list for when we re open our membership doors again!) You can also read this extra little interview with me over on the Home style website. Thank you so much for everyones kinds words about the feature! The issue is out on shelves now if you want to pick up your own copy. Next Article Previous Article
