Arley Hall & Gardens Event – Itinerary & Info THIS WEEKEND, Sat August 3rd, 11-4pm: Arley Hall & Gardens Nature & Drawing Event! PLEASE NOTE WE WILL BE THERE WHATEVER THE WEATHER & we do have alternate sheltered options there such as: The Vinery (greenhouse), The Coach House (that has been reserved) & The Cruck Barn if we need to avoid the odd shower! Plus there’s also a lovely cafe. All being well you will find us drawing amongst The Herbaceous Border & The Walled Garden. Please do make sure to fill in the super quick survey (linked below) if you haven’t already, to let us know if you are attending so we can gather exact numbers! Please make sure to: allocate enough time to purchase your garden entrance ticket from the shop. (If you intend on visiting the Hall as well please ask at the shop or check the Arley Hall website for the best ticket option. The event will be held in the Coach House & gardens only). pay the car park fee for the visitors car park – check the Arley Hall website for more information or call 01565 777 353. grab a map from the gift shop or you can download one here so that you can meet back up with the group at any point in the day. 11.15am – 11.45pm – Brief introduction & talk from Rachael Taylor / Location: Coach House (next to the gift shop) Rachael will introduce herself & summarise her diverse career, discuss her design & drawing processes & will show you examples of nature-based designs from her portfolio. You will also get the chance to look through Rachael’s exclusive & unseen work & original drawings. 11.45pm – 12.15pm – Inspiring walk around the gardens / Location: All gardens There will be a short walk around the beautiful gardens available at Arley Hall to gain inspiration from their renowned Herbaceous Border, the stunning Walled Garden, Arbour Garden, Shrub Roses Garden and the aromatic herb & scented gardens, The Vinery greenhouse, The Rootree, as well as the unique Quercus Ilex Columns. Rachael will provide design insights into how she would use this bountiful plant inspiration in her drawing & design process. As you walk you will be able to gather inspiration to use later on in the day. 12.15pm – 1.30pm – Warming up drawing exercises / Location: Herbaceous Border Rachael will give the group tips on how to get started as you take your inspiration from the morning’s walk & use it to create nature-based drawings, sketches & motifs. 1.30pm – 2.15pm – Lunch You will be able to buy your lunch at Arley’s restaurant The Gardeners Kitchen or we would encourage you to bring your own little picnic & really enjoy the stunning gardens! 2.15pm – 3.30pm – Time for more motif development / Location: Walled Garden Enjoy some freestyle drawing time as you get to play & experiment further with the opportunity to get feedback & tips from Rachael while you do. The gardens are open from 10am to 5pm. The event will run from 11am to 4pm. For The Gardeners Kitchen restaurant there is an option to pre-order your lunch. If you wish to do this please make sure to allocate enough time in the morning. It is open from 10am to 5pm. Timings are confirmed but we will send a final itinerary 48 hours before the event if anything has changed due to weather (we are in the UK after all!)
