How to find the email address of any Art Director

This is one of our most provided tips in Rachael’s 1:1 Creative Coaching & it might shock you how easy it actually is.

Two easy to use tools & your off!

BE PREPARED:

To make a good first impression it’s so important to find the right name and contact for what you need. Using ‘Dear Sir/Madam’ or ‘To whom it may concern’ is too impersonal and shows immediately that you haven’t done your research into the company or its team that you’re about to say you’re interested in working with. The same goes for hello@ or info@ email addresses. These inboxes are not run by the people you want to reach and therefore it’s more likely you won’t get a response.

LINKEDIN:

We encourage you to use LinkedIn to look for the relevant titles of the contact you need e.g. if you need the creative department then search titles like ‘Art Director’ or ‘Art Department Manager’ or ‘Art Buyer’ depending on what your intent is. Searching the company name first will usually yield the best results.

HUNTER.IO

We recommend using hunter.io to find the specific email for the contact you want to reach. You can search via the company name or if you know the name of the person from LinkedIn you can use that. It also has a handy percentage score to show how accurate the information is.

BONUS TIPS:

If you absolutely can’t find the specific contact, this is when you would find a careers or general enquiries email and ask for the right contact information. A phone call could also help. Check if the client has any open calls or submission specifications already on their website or social media. It pays to be prepared!
